DonorsChoose for Teachers

DonorsChoose lets Noble teachers request classroom materials and experiences, funded by donors across the country. Here’s how it works in our district — and the few rules to know before you post a project.

Noble’s DonorsChoose Impact

Noble Public Schools is a DonorsChoose district partner, and our teachers have put the platform to serious work. Every one of our five school sites has had projects funded.

Who Can Post a Project?

  • Full-time, front-line educators — DonorsChoose is open to full-time staff (0.75 FTE or more) whose main job is directly teaching or counseling students, including classroom teachers, librarians, counselors, SLPs, and school nurses.
  • Not eligible per DonorsChoose — administrators, paraprofessionals, instructional aides, substitutes, student teachers, and part-time staff. See the eligibility rules.
  • Use your school email — create your DonorsChoose account with your @nobleps.com address so your projects link to your Noble school.

District Guidelines

DonorsChoose is a great tool, and a little coordination up front keeps every project smooth — no duplicate purchases, no equipment we can’t support, and no surprises when boxes arrive.

  • Talk to your principal before you post. A quick heads-up confirms the item isn’t already available through your site or district budget and keeps your principal in the loop when the project funds.
  • Everything funded is school property. Materials, supplies, and equipment received through DonorsChoose belong to Noble Public Schools, not to the individual teacher, and stay at the school site.
  • Ship to your school. Use your school’s street address on every project so deliveries arrive at your site.
  • Technology needs prior approval. See below — this is the one hard requirement before a project is posted.

Technology: Approval Required First

Any technology item — devices, printers, software, accessories, anything that plugs in or connects to our network — must be approved before you post the project. Start with your principal, then the Technology Department reviews the request to make sure the item works on our network, can be supported, and doesn’t duplicate district-provided equipment. Reach the Technology Department through an IT workorder. Unapproved technology may not be connected to the district network.

How to Get Started

  1. Check with your principal

Share what you’d like to request. If it involves technology, your principal will route it to the Technology Department for approval before you go any further.

  2. Set up your account

Sign up at DonorsChoose with your @nobleps.com email and select your Noble school site.

  3. Build your project

Pick your materials from DonorsChoose’s vendors, write a short story about how they’ll help your students, and add a classroom photo. Smaller first projects tend to fund fastest.

  4. Share it

Post the link for family and friends and ask your principal about sharing it in school communications. Projects shared in the first week fund at much higher rates.

  5. Receive, verify, and say thanks

Materials ship straight to your school. Let your principal know when they arrive, then complete the thank-you package DonorsChoose asks for — photos and student thank-yous keep donors coming back.

Project Tips

Do

  • Start small — projects under a few hundred dollars fund fastest, and completed projects earn you points for bigger ones.
  • Lead with your students — donors give to kids and stories, not equipment lists.
  • Add a real classroom photo and a specific title.
  • Watch for match offers — DonorsChoose partners frequently double donations.
  • Thank every donor personally and promptly.

Don’t

  • Post technology projects before approval — funded items we can’t support can’t be used.
  • Use a personal email or home shipping address.
  • Duplicate items your site already provides — that’s what the principal check prevents.
  • Treat funded items as personal property — they stay with the school.
  • Let a funded project sit — complete the donor thank-yous so you stay eligible.

Questions Before You Post?

Your site principal is the first stop for any DonorsChoose question. For technology approvals, submit an IT workorder; for anything else, reach the district at contactus@nobleps.com.

Platform questions — accounts, vendors, shipping — are answered in the DonorsChoose Help Center.
